Fibromyalgia can be difficult to understand. It is condition characterized by chronic and widespread pain and tenderness that is difficult, or impossible to find lasting relief from. Fibromyalgia (FM) is usually made as a diagnosis of exclusion, meaning that once other possible issues and conditions have been ruled out and there is nothing left to explain the symptoms, a diagnosis of FM is given. This can leave Fibromyalgia sufferers feeling helpless to get to the bottom of what is going on with their health and wellbeing.
Recent research points to a possible connection between decreased thyroid hormone regulation and FM. A poor diet, lack of physical fitness, and medications that slow metabolism are main contributors to symptoms, which are also related to hormonal imbalances of cortisol, estrogen, and progesterone.

The link between all of these potentially related issues is the nervous system. The central nervous system controls and coordinates the function of all of the other systems in the body, including the immune system and the endocrine system, which is responsible for hormone production and regulation. People who are suffering with Fibromyalgia would benefit from ensuring that their nervous systems are functioning as optimally as possible.
This is where Dr. Breuwet’s care applies. As an upper cervical specific chiropractor, Dr. Breuwet carefully analyzes for spinal misalignments at the level of the brain stem that can be compromising nervous system function. The brain stem is responsible for many of the automatic functions of our bodies, and when not working properly due to a spinal misalignment, can create the conditions for health issues such as Fibromyalgia to grow. Dr. Breuwet works with his patients to correct these misalignments so that normal nervous system function can be restored, in turn restoring normal function to the immune and endocrine systems. A recent study on upper cervical chiropractic in a fibromyalgia patient showed complete relief of her symptoms after four months of care and a 100% return to her wellbeing.
